- QUESTION:
- Can I have LIVE streaming audio/video on my site ?
ANSWER: - If you are asking this type of question, you probably do not want to use
our Servers.
Our server is extremely basic, it allows for only one stream, and does NOT allow LIVE streams.
It is simply for posting Real Files on your site, and allowing them to be listened to by your sites visitors via a Real Player.
IF YOU ARE planning on running a RADIO STATION or something of that nature, then you need to go to www.real.com and consult them about finding a server that can facilitate this type of function.
HTTP streaming is a method of serving RealMedia audio and video files on the Internet without the added requirements and expense of server-side streaming software. We support HTTP streaming of RealMedia content. To setup your RealMedia files via HTTP streaming follow these steps:
Upload your RealMedia audio/video files (.ra, .ram, .rm or .rpm files) to your account Create a metafile (*.ram file) by opening a plan text editor such as Windows Notepad and typing the URL to one of your RealMedia files. Example:
http://yourdomain.com/somefolder/somefile.ra
Save the file using the file type extension .ram Example:
somefile.ram
Upload your .ram file to the same directory on your account to which you plan on uploading your HTML document(s) from which you plan on linking your RealMedia files. Within your HTML document reference the metafile in a hyperlink. Examples:
somefile.ram
- or -
http://yourdomain.com/somefolder/somefile.ram
When a user clicks on the link, the streaming file(s) begin to download. RealPlayer should begin playing the file almost immediately, it doesn't need to wait for the entire file to download. ############################################################ Please be advised that this is a SUPPLEMENTAL Online Manual.
