Info on File Transfer Protocol(FTP)

QUESTION:
Can I create a public drop box accessed via FTP (this would be a folder that has write access but no read access, for people to drop files for me)?

ANSWER:
Yes, this is called Anonymous FTP. With Anonymous FTP clients can only read from the /pub directory, and write to the /incoming directory. You then have to move files into the /pub directory from the /incoming directory.
